From Loraine’s Caregiver (she’s a new sac/cac member, Kayetta) Loraine is a January 2003 Feature Loraine
Loraine has had a rough time in the last two months. To begin with, the pain in her legs and head is terrific. She is in constant pain, especially in her legs. As you know she is wheelchair bound. There are times when she rises from the chair and blood pours from the backs of her legs. I have watched her cry because of the pain. I cried with her. I have called the nurses to tell me what to do to stop the pain and bleeding. There is not much to do for her. They come to her house and give her a cream to put on it. That is all the doctor said to do. To make things worse, the nurses tell her she is running out of nurse time. One nurse asked her if she wanted to “switch” places with her, because her daughter was in an accident and in the hospital and her son was in an accident getting to the hospital to see his sister. I stepped in and reported this to the head administrator. With all that is going wrong with Loraine I had to step in, she does not need this kind of treatment.

Loraine is getting weaker. She can only stand a minute or two. When she gets back into her chair, she is worn out. She gets so depressed. It is hard to pull her out of it. Sometimes I can’t. But she will give me a smile, then I know that she will be fine. There are days when she absolutely does not want any one or anything bothering her. Any kind of noise is hard on her. When I see her claws and hear her growl, I gone. I go and finish my work.
She has problems with her sight that is getting worse. She been having a lot of tummy trouble that comes and goes. Mostly comes.
Â
My hair stylist came to her house to cut her hair for free. Loraine was so happy she was beaming. He told her, whenever she needed it cut again, to call him. He was really impressed with her.
Â
There is not much I can do for Loraine to ease her pain and suffering. I keep trying. I find, the little things I do for her are the most important. She is one GREAT LADY.
