Thanks from Savannah

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

I can not THANK YOU enough for all the birthday card/gifts Savannah received for her birthday. Savannah has been to ill to have a party so the cards really helped.
Savannah has been fighting a infection and has been on oral antibiotics for over a month now. She just hasn’t responding as well as we would have liked so as soon as her doctor returns from his vacation she will be admitted to the hospital. (July 2nd) She knows she will miss out on the fireworks but she is ready to start feeling better.
I’ll do my best to update from the hospital but my computer time will be limited.
Thanks again for all the continued support.

Feature Update

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Here is an update on Marie, a March 2003 Feature:

I wanted to give you an update on my MIL and former SAC feature, Marie C. About a month ago it was confirmed that her breast cancer has returned and matastasized. She is undergoing chemo, radiation and a clinical trial of a new drug as well. She was just discharged from her second hospitalization a couple of days ago due to needing blood transfusion. She is totally homebound now and practically immobile.

Marie is back on ACTIVE status and could use our cards during treatment!

Update and Thanks on Savannah July 2003 Feature
~~~~~~~~~~~
I can not begin to tell you how much your cards this Christmas meant to Savannah. Savannah again was in the hospital so when her Dad brought up her package full of cards she was just thrilled. It made her room look very festive.
Savannah was able to come home late Christmas Eve night. Her discharge CT scan still showed a little pocket of pneumonia so she came home on two IV antibiotics.
Savannah is still home bound from school but has been working hard with her home bound teacher.
We hope everyone has a great 2007.
Update on Loraine
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
This was sent to me by her caretaker and new ShareaCard member, Kayetta.
At the present time loraine is in a lot of pain.  Quite severe most of the time.
The doctor said that all he can do is give her pain medicine, and make her as comfortable as possible.  He said what she is going through is “the beginning of the End”.  I controlled myself quite well in her presence..  I knew this when I went to work for her.  I had never thought, i would get so close to her in such a short time.
She has not been eating like i feel she should, she eats a little.  I figure that something in her stomach is better than nothing.
I told her that we would take it one step at a time.  I will continue to be as positive as I can, and while I am there I will make her as comfortable as possible.
I am asking for all the prayers she can receive.  She is very religious.
I never told you about the Nun that came with a nurse.  She is a trainee, i guess you would say.  Loraine loved her right off.  The nun put her hand on Loraine’s shoulder, and Loraine said she felt so much better.  That gesture was like gods’ hand touching her.   The next morning, when I came in, i began doing my duties and I looked at a book she had  on the table, which was religious and on the book was a “Blessed Mary” medal.  I gave her the medal, and the light  in her eyes was priceless.  The nun had left it for her.  I found her a pin and she never forgets to put it on her dress.  She panics when it has been taken off to change her dress and not returned to its proper place.  The nun and the medal was a very special event in her life. One that i will never forget.
Savannah–Featured July 2003
Savannah is now home bound again.
She had caught a cold that turned into bronchitis.
Savannah just LOVES being at school so this will be hard on her. She is now in the 7th grade and is enjoying being in middle school.
We had a very busy summer this year. Savannah’s uncle visited from Germany, her brother, Danny Ray got married, and her sister, Miranda, moved into her college dorm. Savannah really misses her siblings.
I can not THANK YOU all enough for your continued prayers and support. It really means a lot to ALL of us.
Update on Loraine
Monday, September 11th, 2006
From Loraine’s Caregiver (she’s a new sac/cac member, Kayetta) Loraine is a January 2003 Feature Loraine
Loraine has had a rough time in the last two months.  To begin with, the pain in her legs and head is terrific.  She is in constant pain, especially in her legs.  As you know she is wheelchair bound.  There are times when she rises from the chair and blood pours from the backs of her legs.  I have watched her cry because of the pain.  I cried with her.  I have called the nurses to tell me what to do to stop the pain and bleeding.  There is not much to do for her.  They come to her house and give her a cream to put on it.  That is all the doctor said to do.  To make things worse,  the nurses tell her she is running out of nurse time.  One nurse asked her if she wanted to “switch” places with her, because her daughter was in an accident and in the hospital and her son was in an accident getting to the hospital to see his sister.  I stepped in and reported this to the head administrator.  With all that is going wrong with Loraine I had to step in, she does not need this kind of treatment.
Loraine is getting weaker.  She can only stand a minute or two.  When she gets back into her chair,  she is worn out.  She gets so depressed.  It is hard to pull her out of it.  Sometimes I can’t.  But she will give me a smile, then I know that she will be fine.  There are days when she absolutely does not want any one or anything bothering her.  Any kind of noise is hard on her.  When I see her claws and hear her growl, I gone.  I go and finish my work.
She has problems with her sight that is getting worse.  She been having a lot of tummy trouble that comes and goes.  Mostly comes.
My hair stylist came to her house to cut her hair for free.  Loraine was so happy she was beaming.  He told her, whenever she needed it cut again, to call him.  He was really impressed with her.
There is not much I can do for Loraine to ease her pain and suffering.  I keep trying.  I find, the little things I do for her are the most important.  She is one GREAT LADY.
Thank you,  Kayetta ,  Loraines Caregiver.
And we all know what a great lady Loraine is!! We miss you Loraine!
