November Volunteer- Louise D.

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

New York City is the birthplace of this month’s winner, Louise.  But she has spent most of her life in Boynton Beach, Florida.   She has been fortunate enough to have married her best friend and been his partner for 48 years.  They have 4 adult children and 11 wonderful grandchildren (aren’t they just the best??!!?? – author’s bias )  The family is completed with two dogs, one being a rescue animal from the hurricane.  What a special addition, and this shows the heart of this dedicated Shareacard member.

She finds happiness in doing things for her family and others, which again is evident in how she lives her life.  She spent 6 years doing missionary work and would love to do that again, but, in her words. “these bones couldn’t handle it anymore!”

The sunshines makes her want to grab a good book, a cup of coffee and sit outside and enjoy the warmth.  She is not at all fond of rainy days!

One of Louise’s hobbies is card making and she wanted to share that charity work when she retired.  She heard about Shareacard through her involvement in Angels for Hope, a wonderful organization led by one of our moderators, Cindy.  So thank you, Cindy, for sharing Louise with all of us.  And thank you, Louise, for opening your heart to Shareacard.  Congratulations for being the November winner.

October 2006- Meet Jodi

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Our Volunteer of the Month and very first person to be honored is Jodi D.  Jodi was born and raised in Ohio and still lives there with husband, Derek and three young children; Drake (9), Mason (7) and Rileigh (5).  They live in a farmhouse that was built by her grandfather!  Joining them in the farmhouse is an assortment of pigs, cows, goats, chickens and rabbits.  The newest member of the family is a Pekingese puppy!  I would say Jodi has her hands full.

She loves daffodils and they make her happy.  To Jodi they represent the season of spring and that it is time for everything to come alive again.  What a beautiful thought.

If she would do anything at all in her spare time, she would sit at the beach and enjoy watching the waves crash on the shore while feeling the warmth of the sun and enjoying the sounds and the smells of the sea.  Since a trip to the ocean is somewhat of a novelty living in Ohio, her spare time is more realistically spent playing with her children.  They all love to play baseball.

Jodi is an avid mystery reader and loves nothing better then to curl up in her jammies and read to her heart’s content on a rainy day.  She keeps a rather large stash gently stacked under her bed!

Jodi is an avid rubber stamper and has been using her talents to make cards for the past 15 years!!  She has amassed quite a collection over the years and that is what brought her to Shareacard.  She was looking for a way to use the special cards that she has made.  How lucky we all are that she found us on the internet and has been treating our features with her very special handmade cards for the past 10 months.

Thank you, Jodi, for sharing a little of yourself with all of us and for showing such dedication to those in need.  Congratulations!

** NEW Volunteer of the Month

Monday, October 9th, 2006

We are starting a new area on our blog. It will be called Volunteer of the Month. Each month, we will be selecting a “volunteer” amongst our senders of cards for ShareaCard for that month. They will then be awarded a monthly prize giveaway item for that month as well as be featured for the Volunteer of the Month. Once selected, you will receive a questionaire from ShareaCard asking you questions to help us get to know you better! I will then post those replies on our blog. We are looking forward to this new area so we can get to know each other better!

 Hugs,
