Update and Thanks on Savannah July 2003 Feature
~~~~~~~~~~~
I can not begin to tell you how much your cards this Christmas meant to Savannah. Savannah again was in the hospital so when her Dad brought up her package full of cards she was just thrilled. It made her room look very festive.
Savannah was able to come home late Christmas Eve night. Her discharge CT scan still showed a little pocket of pneumonia so she came home on two IV antibiotics.
Savannah is still home bound from school but has been working hard with her home bound teacher.
We hope everyone has a great 2007.
More on the Holiday Card Project
Monday, January 1st, 2007
Since the hectiness of the holidays is winding down some, I thought I would share a few thoughts on the Holiday Card Project:
*Thanks to everyone who sent a little note/card/enclosure for the moderators of ShareaCard! We enjoyed having some attention as well :)
*It was so cool to be able to sneak a little peek at the cards that were left unsealed (our favorite part!!)
*We didn’t get a sneak peek but we heard some cards contained Reindeer Food and Santa Keys….how cool!
Thanks again everyone for making this a record year!!
Even More Sad News on Patricia
Monday, January 1st, 2007
Cindy received this email today that Patricia, a December 2005 Feature has lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer :(
Here is the VERY touching message she received:
“Hi Cindy,
Pat’s sister called me today with the news that Pat went home to be with
her
Lord about 10 PM Friday evening. Arlene (Pat’s sister) shared with me that
Pat had received 50 Christmas cards from “my angels from Shard-a-card”. She
especially enjoyed the pictures and drawings made by the Girl Scouts,
Brownies
and Daisy’s from Elizabethtown, PA. Pat always referred to the Share-a-card
friends as “my angels”. She also received many gifts and pictures. Pat
looked
at them all and read every card and wanted everyone at Share-a-card to know
how much every card meant to her. She would show the cards to everyone that
visited her and comment on how beautiful they were and that people who
didn’t
even know her sent them with love. She was always amazed that so many
strangers took the time to make cards and send them to her. Pat was always
ready to
go the extra mile for others but could never quite understand why anyone
would want to go the extra mile for her. On Christmas Day Pat was taken to
the
hospital with pneumonia. She was released Friday and went to her sister’s
home
where she passed away that evening.
Arlene would like thank everyone at Send-a-card for all the beautiful cards
that were sent to Pat. She and Pat would look at each card many times and
comment on how beautifully they were made.
Thank you all for making my friend so very happy with your love and
kindness.
In Harmony,
MargieB”
Update on Jan and Thanks!
Monday, January 1st, 2007
I just wanted to let you know how blessed I was when your package arrived. I have had a terrible week since Monday. I had my heart tests and they couldn’t get the IV in my arm and poked me five times and each time my vein popped, blew and my arm doubled in size, finally on the last try , number six, they got it in and the five hour test started, I felt bad from the very beginning, to make ematters worse toward the end, they had to run and get my new specialists, I was having horrible side effects and all I could do was cry and just keep praying as I have to get these tests completed every year …. God had to work over time Monday. Bad thing about it all is I have had horrible headaches ever since and my Cardiologist said I probably can’t have these tests next time and he will have to come up with something else. But, I have to have tests once a year at least. So any way I have been in misery up until my blessing arrived in this big I mean big full package. It took me hours to open each and every one .. the envelopes and each time I opened one, I felt a serge of love and kindness and caring pour over me. It took me hours to read one and re read it and reread it. I cried with joy and I felt a sense of over whelming love. Believe it or not, my headache actually eased up for a bit. God’s blessings I know.
A Message from Sudie
Monday, January 1st, 2007
I received my Christmas cards in yesterdays mail. What a wonderful surprise that was. I am still having bad days and good days, but to add to my recovery, we have had a tragedy happen in our family.
Earlier Friday afternoon, 12/15/06, my oldest grandson, Thomas had a work related accident. He fell off his fork lift about 20ft. It appears that he fell off backward. His spinal cord was separated and shifted about an inch, he broke all the bones in his neck, including the one holding up his head. He also broke all the bones in his face. One of the bones in his neck actually broke and flipped completely the other way.
If he does live thru this horrific accident, he will be paralyzed. The details of how it happened are very sketchy at this point. Nobody saw the accident. Either one or more individuals found him on the floor. He was unconscious when they found him.
Please put him on all of your prayer lists. Any get well cards that you wish to send can be sent to me and I will deliver them to my daughter. At the moment, he is in stable condition. We’re taking it one day at a time. This will not be one of our best holidays.
He will be 24 on January 4th, 2007, so he has youth on his side. He’s a fighter, just like his grandmother.
Thank you. All my love,
Sudie
***UPDATE****
Hi Kath, he’s still in stable condition. We’re taking it one day at a time. Right now they’re trying to keep the brain swelling to a minimum. thanks so very much. The cards will mean so much to my daughter and her family. originally i had said to send them to my address, but after considering how sick i’ve been lately, i think it would be wise to send them to my daughter’s po box.
Holiday Card Project!
Wednesday, November 1st, 2006
I’m happy to announce the 2006 Holiday Card Project! We have 22 Features this year :)
The Purpose:
           The mission of the Holiday Card Project is to gather Christmas greeting cards and distribute them to seriously ill people who have been featured on ShareaCard and are in active status (we have had an update within the last 6 months). It is well known that the holiday season is extremely depressing to the shut-in and the very ill. They watch all around them as everyone shops and bakes and enjoy themselves, all the while many cannot even leave their homes and are ill from all their medical treatments. YOU can help make a difference in their holiday season! Just imagine the delight when a feature receives a large envelope filled with greeting cards from all the United States and Canada, wishing them well and sending along caring thoughts. EVERY card received will make an impact this holiday!
What Can I Do?:
            Visit our Features accepting cards page. The features listed on this page are those participating in the Holiday Card Project. Detailed instructions are also included on this page.
Our Goal:
            Last year, we collected 746 cards from 39 participants! Our goal this year is to hit an all time high of 900 cards!  You can help us meet that goal by printing out our flyer  and placing it in your local grocery store, church or similar area to help advertise our project! Perhaps even have your local Boy Scout or Girl Scout troops join in as a service project!
