Jan~~~~~Featured October 2005

I just wanted to update you with what is going on with me. I have been in the hospital. I had two strokes, back to back. I also have blockages in my neck. They are going to see if this medicine will help me vs surgery. I have an appointment today with my Cardiologist and then I will be seeing the Vascular Surgeon. Please ask my dear friends and supporters from your beautiful group if they would please keep me in their prayers. Kathy, this is just so hard on me, however, I know my Lord and Savior will carry me through. While laying in that hospital bed, I reflected on all the beautiful cards I received at Christmas and I told my nurses about all of you. They thought it was really a unique group of individuals.
Please let everyone know how special they are and happy those cards make me and the memory lasts forever.
Thanks
Love and God’s Blessings, Jan

Even More Sad News on Patricia

Monday, January 1st, 2007

Cindy received this email today that Patricia, a December 2005 Feature has lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer :(
Here is the VERY touching message she received:

“Hi Cindy,
Pat’s sister called me today with the news that Pat went home to be with
her
Lord about 10 PM Friday evening. Arlene (Pat’s sister) shared with me that
Pat had received 50 Christmas cards from “my angels from Shard-a-card”. She
especially enjoyed the pictures and drawings made by the Girl Scouts,
Brownies
and Daisy’s from Elizabethtown, PA. Pat always referred to the Share-a-card
friends as “my angels”. She also received many gifts and pictures. Pat
looked
at them all and read every card and wanted everyone at Share-a-card to know
how much every card meant to her. She would show the cards to everyone that
visited her and comment on how beautiful they were and that people who
didn’t
even know her sent them with love. She was always amazed that so many
strangers took the time to make cards and send them to her. Pat was always
ready to
go the extra mile for others but could never quite understand why anyone
would want to go the extra mile for her. On Christmas Day Pat was taken to
the
hospital with pneumonia. She was released Friday and went to her sister’s
home
where she passed away that evening.
Arlene would like thank everyone at Send-a-card for all the beautiful cards
that were sent to Pat. She and Pat would look at each card many times and
comment on how beautifully they were made.
Thank you all for making my friend so very happy with your love and
kindness.

In Harmony,
MargieB”

Update on Jan and Thanks!

Monday, January 1st, 2007

I just wanted to let you know how blessed I was when your package arrived. I have had a terrible week since Monday. I had my heart tests and they couldn’t get the IV in my arm and poked me five times and each time my vein popped, blew and my arm doubled in size, finally on the last try , number six, they got it in and the five hour test started, I felt bad from the very beginning, to make ematters worse toward the end, they had to run and get my new specialists, I was having horrible side effects and all I could do was cry and just keep praying as I have to get these tests completed every year …. God had to work over time Monday. Bad thing about it all is I have had horrible headaches ever since and my Cardiologist said I probably can’t have these tests next time and he will have to come up with something else. But, I have to have tests once a year at least. So any way I have been in misery up until my blessing arrived in this big I mean big full package. It took me hours to open each and every one .. the envelopes and each time I opened one, I felt a serge of love and kindness and caring pour over me. It took me hours to read one and re read it and reread it. I cried with joy and I felt a sense of over whelming love. Believe it or not, my headache actually eased up for a bit. God’s blessings I know.

With each card I open, there is a friend that was thinking of me and trying to brighten my day.  For that, I am so grateful and thankful and give all the glory and honor to the Lord.
I am still in horrible pain, the stroke did so much damage to my nerves and the drs said it is just something I have to live with for the rest of my life.  It is intolerable, but there is nothing that can be done.  I just offer up all my pain to God.  I have been having some pain with my heart and I see my Cardiologist today.  I pray that all goes well.  My muscular dystrophy has been bad as well and there are days I can’t even get up to get a shower.  It takes so much out of me Kathy to get my day started.  I would love extra prayers for strength.  I so wanted to get decorated for Christmas … I love this time of year and my birthday is coming up on the 26th.  My prayer and wish is that I will show some sort of improvement, I refuse to give up and lose hope, as I know My GOD is an awesome God and anything can change in a blink of an eye.
The Specialists are still keeping an eye with still the possibility of the diagnosis of sebaceouos gland carn. of my right eye.   I’m still presenting with some concern to them.  again, I just need lots and lots of prayers.
well, my friend, I need to try to get some sleep.
God bless you and my love and deep gratitude to all.
Love, Jan

Jan just released her new book! Congrats Jan on your success!

Update on Patricia

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Patricia was featured December 2005 Patricia

From Cindy—–I received an update on Pat through Margie. Goodness it warms my heart so to hear she is in an “up period”!
Pat is going through an “up period” right now. Her numbers are bouncing around, but she seems to have a little more energy and interest in food and things that are happening around her She makes the 2 hour trip once a month for chemo. She comes down one day has chemo the next and goes back the following day. She is still staying with her sister Arlene, who brings her back and forth for chemo. I saw her the last time she was down, She looked the best I have seen her look in quite a while. She could hardly wait to tell me that she is still receiving cards for “Share-a-card” members and is just amazed that they remember her and take the time to continue to send her the beautiful cards that they make. She says it really makes her day every time she receives a card. I have seen some of the cards and they are beautiful and very special!
Thank you for suggesting the Share-a-card program. Everyone involved is an angel.

I saw Russell!

Monday, September 11th, 2006

I got to see Russell yesterday at our family reunion. He and his finacee, Miriam, had come up from Texas. He is still down there at rehab but should be discharged soon. Such big changes from last year! Last year at the reunion, it was only a few months after the car bombing and he had these huge bracket hoops on his legs. Yesterday, he was walking normally!! :) His mom said he will never jump or run but I think it’s a miracle he can walk as well as he can! She had some pictures there of him meeting President Bush. What an honor!

Russell was a May 2005 Feature. His most recent picture is located HERE
