Cherryl had Chemotherapy round 3 on August 9th. Her friend (of 20 plus years) Ellen has been spending the day with her at each session. Although Cherryl is not much company as she tends to sleep a lot. There are LARGE recliners that are just too soothing, the interior and exterior are relaxing also.
The North Star Lodge is set like a great old mountain/forest/steam lodge. If you know Whistlin’ Jack Lodge here in Yakima County, WA then you get the idea. Even the medical carts with drawers are of oak that looks like much of the kind of furnishings our grandparents used to have. As you enter or leave there are plenty of benches to rest on with plantings all around, pathways to walk on trees to sit among and everywhere there are little streams burbling over the rocks. We even saw this week a pair of quail scurrying in and out of the low bushes and exotic grasses planted there.
All in all the folks at the cancer center have done and continue to make the whole experience as stress free as possible in spite of the seriousness of the illness they treat there.
The neurosurgeon who did brain surgery for the tumor in September 2004 ordered an MRI on the Monday before chemo. The cancer center had a copy of the report by the day of chemo (Wednesday). The oncologist did not really comment on it, although she did give us a copy.
The technical result is a small spot (5 millimeters ~ ¼ inch ~ at about the location of the previous tumor. It could be according to the report a “recurrent tumor, metastatic disease, infection and radiation necrosis should also be consideredâ€. We also wonder if it could be a new Multiple Sclerosis flare. We see the surgeon on Thursday this week and will be most interested in his impression.
We continue to thank God for the care of the medical professionals and the love of our family & friends.
With deep gratitude we extend to you the blessings we have in Jesus our Savior.

Isn’t it wonderful that they have such a pleasant and relaxing place for such an unpleasant treatment?
